We’ve stayed at the Duke of York a few times which is located at the bottom of the 200 steps up to the Abbey. It’s also two doors up from Watches of Whitby.

Family size rooms available and they accept dogs which if I remember correctly added to the night rate. They do decent pub food and the breakfast was good. There’s a small beach two minutes away that is the one that lets dogs on.

Only downside is no parking but there is a long stay car park which is a five minute walk away.

We’ve stayed in a couple of what I would call traditional B&B’s on the other side of the estuary that weren’t as good.

Love Whitby.
