Some Omega's - warts and all

Postby Foggy on Sun Jan 29, 2006 11:04 am

Hi all

A quick group shot of some of the Omega watches I have found at boot sales over the years. Not included are the better ones ie those with original bracelets, boxes/papers etc, & chrono's / sports models.

Those shown are what I would call good honest original "beaters" (with just the odd redial thrown in)

Foggy
I think some of them looks very good, even if they are not what you call "the better ones" Are they all from the very overpriced boot sales
I have to say I am impressed

And it's good to see your Geneve again. The first ones are not too common

I had some twat on another forum once say to me that I didn't find the watches I posted at boot sales.

Probably thought I paid full whack for them. Tosser. :D

I don't know what he would say if he saw that lot.
Cheers,
Neil.

Excellent Foggy. Really like this pic and your dive watch ones.

Particularly like the middle and right on row 1, and the one on the right on row 2.

Great gathering...

I've had the same, Neil. Probably the same twat

Probably thought I paid full whack for them. Tosser.

If I'd paid full whack, I'd be homeless and up to my eyeballs in debt -- thankfully neither applies

Its no good, I've just GOT to move down south. We never get anything like that at the Boot Sales around here. :(

Well, either that or send a few of my Scouse mates down for a weekend - (with their reputation.........................)

Great watches Foggy. :D
Best Regards - Peter

I ache therefore I am. Or, in my case, I am therefore I ache. Oh look, I appear to be lying in the bottom of a very deep hole. That seems a familiar concept, what does it remind me of? Ah, yes. Life.

I am in love with the 6B/159 (second row, right).

Still hoping that Eddie will counter the armada of all those B-Uhren replicas with the most important British WWII aviation watch ...

I was recently wondering what the Brits used to wear, when the Germans were strapping on the B-Uhren. I'm obviously aware of what the Czech's wore

Actually, the B-Uhren were mainly for long-range and squadron navigation ... the individual pilots would have worn most likely one- or two-button chronographs, or the Luftwaffe equivalent (sans shock-protection) of the "Dienstuhr Heer" (army field watch), which in turn was the German version of the British Army's late-war WWW (or was it the equivalent of the WWW's predecessor the ATPs?).

Interesting to see the different philosophies ... the Germans pushed out many chronographs to their pilots, the allies resorted to mass-produced and reasonably (though not superbly) accurate A-11s and 6B/159 basic watches.

This might well reflect different approaches in general.

What I was taught was that the Italian equipment was very good, but artisan, so hard to maintain and hard to produce. The German equipment (at least the best of it) was very good, but there really wasn't enough of it. (For example, the German army was still mostly a horse/mule drawn army in WWII.) The British used mostly US stuff, but needed some eccentric equipment, which was, well, eccentric. (This is later. Earlier is a different story.) The US stuff was pretty crummy, but there was a lot of it. (Although the M1 doesn't seem a bad weapon.) And the Russians used lots of US stuff, but not always. E.g., possibly, the Russian T34 had the best tank design of them all. (And there were lots and lots of them.)

Best wishes,
Bob

I love them all, but especially second row to right and middle second row fron bottom.

There are several of the first-mentioned (RAF?) on the Bay at the moment. I have wanted one for a while, but daren't buy on the Bay as I gather they are often faked or franken :(
