Leeds International Swimming Pool

Postby Cynergy on Sun Nov 02, 2008 1:34 am

I can't take any credit for these cracking photo's and I hope it's not against the forum rules to link to someone else's photos but I found the link below which maybe of interest to any members living in the Leeds area :-

http://blog.myspace.com/index.cfm?fusea ... =361721416

I myself have been swimming there many times and pass the building everyday on my way to work

In addition to some great photo's it also give's an insight into the history of the pool.

Enjoy

Thanks for the link. Some great pics in there. :)

And many memories too, as I was working and living in Leeds when it was built. Very futuristic architecture in its day, and very un-60's, (everything was square and concrete at that time :( ).
Best Regards - Peter

I ache therefore I am. Or, in my case, I am therefore I ache. Oh look, I appear to be lying in the bottom of a very deep hole. That seems a familiar concept, what does it remind me of? Ah, yes. Life.

I hate seeing old buildings left to die, although it seems to be a standard developer's tctic - buy a building, let it decay until it's unsafe, and then no one can object when you tear it down.

Thanks for the link.
Cheers,
Gordon

My name's Andre Crabtree III. I got more holes than a golf course.

Great link, pics but a sad story .. visited that pool quite often in the late 70's & early 80's when staying with family in either Leeds, Sheffield or Rotherham.
