Legendary music producer Steve Albini died aged 61 ,He was vital in the independent music scene producing so many great alternative rock lps. Will dust off the turntable and play some old favs in his memory

Genuinely my favourite producer, for After Murder Park by The Auteurs, and Rid of Me by PJ Harvey. Never mind Pixies/Nirvana/GYBE/Mogwai/Wedding Present/Manics. Great poker player, too.

Gutted. I was wondering about him recently as he'd went silent on Twitter and you automatically fear the worst, but it seemed he was just taking a break. Then this.
As already mentioned, he was a great poker player too with two WSOP bracelets to his name.
If, instead, you might find yourselves in the position of being temporarily indulged by the record company, only to have them yank the chain at some point (hassling you to rework songs/sequences/production, calling-in hired guns to “sweeten” your record, turning the whole thing over to some remix jockey, whatever...) then you're in for a bummer and I want no part of it.
And then after recording Nirvana/Geffen went and brought in another producer to remix Heart Shaped Box and All Apologies because the label wanted it to be more radio friendly, which went down as well as expected with Albini refusing to hand over the master tapes. He relented in the end but it wasn't a great look for the band at the time.
Anyone on this forum, of all forums, who claims to be an Albini fan and who isn't playing THIS tonight needs to have a word with themselves...
